April 21, 1984
Dear Jim,
Just a quick note to advise you that I received your letter of April 6, '84 which
was sent to my old homestead at 278 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, N.J. I lived
there for the past 30 years or so and rented it last year when we left for Florida for the Winter. I am sending you a card
with my address which I can be reached at for the coming year or so. Also a picture taken a mile from Caherdaniel
where my father John {no middle name) McCrohan was born approximately 1890.
My grandmother I think was born in Cahirciveen -her name was Bridget (Nee O'Connell).
She was a close relative of Daniel O'Connell the great Irish patriot who was born
in Caherdaniel. His house is still there but it was closed when I stopped there in
October of 1978
I would like to tell you that I am very interested in your genealogy of the McCrohan
family. However, you will have to wait a few months until I return to Princeton where all my records are. I have lots of info regarding McCrohan family in fact,
far more than B. Bayley. I bought that book but sent it back for a refund as there was little info in it concerning the family. Lots of info that you can
get in any library on genealogical research and how to prepare one.
I was born Feb. 26, 1913 in N.Y.C., came to Princeton, N.J., a few weeks later
and lived there all my life. Had two brothers, Albert (WWII deceased) and John
and a sister, Margaret still living at 209 Nassau St., Princeton (now on vacation
in Hawaii).
As I said Jim this is just a quickie note. Please excuse the writing, spell,
etc, promise I'll do better in the future as my wife Edna types -so my letters will
improve. She just retired from ETS (Educational Testing Service) after 26
years. I think they have office in Texas.
I have a daughter Mary M. living in San Francisco. There is also a McCrohan
(no relation) living on her street. He is a retired lawyer. I'll send you his
name and address. I also have a daughter, Patricia and a son Peter, both
living in Princeton.
That's all for now Jim. I'll be here until the end of May, then be going back
to Jersey. Will get a lot of McCrohan info together and send it to you.
Consider me your eastern rep. Hope to meet you some day. Maybe at a McCrohan
clan get together.
Sincerely,
Peter J. McCrohan

August 26, 1985 .
Dear Jim,
At this late date you probably think I have forgotten you and the genealogy of
the McCrohan clan. Your letter of 4-27-84 did not get to me until about March
or April '85. We sold house at 278 Hamilton Avenue, Princeton, N.J. last
August and moved to Manasquan, N.J, our summer home and then to six Pennypacker, La.,
Palm Coast, Florida for the winter. Quite some of our mail never did arrive.
Please forgive the lateness of this letter. I'll try to be more prompt in the
future.
This is just a short note to tell you I am sending you under separate cover some
McCrohan information that I have been gathering during the past year. I think
you will find some of it interesting. I enjoyed the letter you sent from
Liz McCrohan. My daughter Mary who is a teacher (14 years) in San Francisco
is visiting us here in Manasquan. I'll tell her to look up Liz if possible.
As your east coast rep, I promise to try and do a better job in the future.
Drop me a line when you have time.
Sincerely,
Peter J. McCrohan
